Lean - Clean up Live Photos App Reviews

The app offers no support, and the error message simply states "some error happened". Congrats folks, perhaps you forgot to test your app under iOS 10?

Terrible app. It just made static copies of live photos without deleting them. I have 0 bytes of storage on my 6s now after Lean operation, lots of new static photos, and Im not able to access and delete the live ones!! Looks like photos library is corrupted. What a cr@p ...

Before using the app I had 11Gb being used by photos. After using app I now have 12.4Gb used by photos. App does exact opposite of what it says. Do not purchase this app. Extremely aggravating after paying $1.99.

Helpful app. It saves a non-live version then deletes the original. The new version is out of order but not a huge deal.

Fast and easy way to clean up your photo library by deleting the movie portion of Live Photos that dont need to be live. Makes it worthwhile to just always leave the "Live" setting turned ON in the camera app, so that you never miss anything, knowing that you can quickly reclaim storage space later.

Great little app. Super simple. Exactly what I was looking for to save space in my bulging iCloud Photo Library.

It is a great app to show all Live Photos and allow you to revert back to normal photo.

Great idea but you have to do it photo by photo. Id like to be able to select a bunch of photos all at once instead of one by one and then waiting for that dialogue confirmation box to clear each time

This app is awesome. Live Photos take up much more space than you would think and this app helps get rid of unwanted Live Photos while leaving the original still photo with exif data intact. Great job!

I will put 5 stars if you can mark Live Photos that have "live" disabled in Photos app. So I will disable Live in Photos app and then open Lean and actually delete Live part. I will pay for a feature to be able to do that automatically for all photos at once.

This is a simple app that works as advertised. But... 1. Would be nice to get to choose which frame to save 2. Would be nice to have a setting that doesnt delete the live photo.

It would be more useful if you could decide which frame or frames to save and b able to edit a phot without having to delete the original.

Since Apple has not yet seen fit to create a "Live Photos" Album in the regular Photos app, Lean fills the void. Great great app, terrific that it is free!

The app is ok but what I found is irritating was the developers little quip about 3D Touch. It was not necessary and you now have one less user.

Yes it disables the live part of the live photo, but the file SIZE stays exactly the same, which defeats the whole purpose. After you delete the original live photo, the app declares that it has claimed back some amount of storage (usually around 2.5MB), but I found its a random number because the resulting "lean" photo is the same size or sometimes slightly bigger than the original live photo file size, which makes absolutely no sense. I tested this multiple times by transferring the "lean" and original live photos to my computer and comparing them. Its either a sham or the app is broken. Even though the app is free, Im still upset because it wasted quite a bit of my time. Using iPhone 6s Plus with iOS 9.2.

Im sure its a limitation of apple but you need batch photo or its pointless

Awful execution of a good idea. The size of the photos remains the same! That defeats the whole idea of converting from live to single photo. In addition, the app deletes all the meta data, such as location, data and time.

You can actually do what this app claims to by taking a screenshot.

It says I have no Live Photos to fix, which is wrong. I have 1322, which it ignores. There are ZERO instructions, so app does nothing. Do not buy. Disgusting that Apple allows this in the App Store, and Apple should allow refunds. If no stars were available option that is what this app deserves.

DO NOT USE IF YOU CARE ABOIT EXIF DATA like location, date, time, lens info, etc. I’ve used this app before and I thought it kept all EXIF data and just removed the Live Photo. It ruined a bunch of my photos which is disappointing.

This app removes all the date and time information of each photo changed and that scrambles the order the picture were taken, I had several hundred photos that I needed to keep in the order I’d taken them and now I spend hours sorting them to correct order.

It will not process any of my pictures and continues to give me an error message. Don’t waste your $5!

Great concept but doing more than one photo results in an error even when there is plenty of free space. Makes the app basically useless

How do I get a refund? I spent $4.99 he keeps telling me there’s not enough storage to convert my pictures from live to still. I have plenty of storage and it doesn’t work even when I do one picture at a time.

Says I need more storage space to clean up photos. The reason I bought it was so my photos took up less space. There doesn’t seem to be a point to this app. Also, I have plenty of space free on my phone so I shouldn’t be getting this message. Can I get a refund?

I paid for this app because I wanted to make my Live Photo’s stills in a batch. I cannot find any way to do this. If I wanted to fix them one by one I could have done that without this app. Waste of money.

It says it can’t do its job because I don’t have enough space on my phone. That’s not true so I don’t know why it’s not working and there’s no way to contact the developer.

Needs select all button, 500 live photos selecting one at at time

The app only does a single photo at a time and has no batch functionality.

This app is absolute garbage. It has the option to select multiple photos, but if I select even 2 photos it gives me an error and won’t work. I have to manually go through every single photo to clean it. Waste of time and money

Trying use it, keeps bringing the error message saying try to clean fewer images. Still not working. If you want me try to clean one by one why would i need this app at all???

Found the Live Photo in my deleted folder, unchanged.

I'm so tired of getting scammed on the App Store. I paid the $1.99 and got zilch. It doesn't do anything and there is no support. Other than trying to scan another $2.99 for an app that exports to your photos to gif.

Was working great but now every time, it says error possibly not enough space. This is trying to clean up 1 photo! I have several gig available?? Any fixes ?

Just spent $1.99 on this app and it does literally nothing. I select a picture push clean up the wheel spins like it’s doing something and then it just goes back to saying clean up. I’ve tried it at least 20 times. Don’t waste your money.

I haven’t ever had such a bad experience with an app before. Not only did it not work the way it says- it didn’t safe any space on my phone or iCloud yet- it messed up the timeline of hundreds of photos! I’m angry I payed and used it!!!

I get an error message saying I don’t have enough free memory so try doing fewer pictures but I get the same message with only one picture selected.

I really don’t remember if this app worked properly as it’s been sitting There unised for so long. I updated the app (April’ 2018) and it just deletes love pictures. I noticed that the ones that are on iCloud it dos t even try do download, just delete the picture and doesn’t strip the love prt and save it.

This deleted my photos. I looked, believe me I looked several times to check that the photos I “cleaned up” weren’t somewhere else in my timeline. They are gone. I want my money and my photos back. Really angry. This app should be removed from the App Store.

Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Not worth $1.99. Save your money.

It will not save resize the image to save space on your phone and does not convert to JPEG or GIF. Worthless.

This app is so annoying because it makes me tap on each of my 2000 photos individually to delete the Live version :( Who has time for that?!

Please update! Lean no longer works at all. Every attempt at cleanup results in an error.

It keeps on saying I don't have enough memory but I have plenty. Will do one photo at a time but not more. Any suggestions? If not I would like my money back.

Those who complains about the increased size of the photo library should delete the deleted photos.

I downloaded it and it tried to do what it says, but then it scrambled all of the time stamps on my entire photo library, deleted tons of photos, and just messed up iCloud Photo Library on all of my devices. This app really made everything worse. I don't recommend it.

Maybe it's my iPhone but I get an error message saying it can't delete a photo because there's not enough space (I have 60+ GB free). Other times, when I can get it to work, it deletes the live photo but doesn't save a regular one.

Easy to use, retained all metadata, seems to have truly removed the video portion of the live photos.

It looks like it works at first, but looking closer: 1) in spite of supposedly reclaiming hundreds of MB of photos, the total amount of disk used by the Photos app doesn't change; 2) when importing the photos on to the Mac, it is the Live Photos which are transferred, proof there are still around (and Lean says there are none); 3) there are some bugs where sometime your photos will appear as duplicated... not sure if it is iOS or Lean's fault. In the end, this app doesn't do at all what it promises. The video of the live video stays and only the Photo app on your phone will pretend all those pictures are not live ones. I want my money back!!
